Amsterdam North; Hip, Hot and Trendy
CP Amsterdam City Camp: very well located but basic
The CP Amsterdam City Camp is a very basic camperplace, with approximately 100 paved camper spots. There is a Sanistation where you can refuel your water and discharge your chemical toilet. The camper site is secured by a fence. Please note that there are no facilities such as toilets or showers. The price per night in the high season is about 25 euros for a camper with two persons. There is little to do for the little children. VanDogs are allowed. The places are not really spacious, but you don’t get to camp here either: No you came to visit Amsterdam.
Visit Amsterdam Centre.
To visit the centre of Amsterdam you can take the Ferry to Amsterdam Central Station. The Ferry is at 10 minutes walking distance of the CP. It will take another 20 minutes to sail across the river IJ. The crossing is already a pleasure because you see Amsterdam from the river IJ. The Ferry is free of charge. Unfortunately the ferry does not sail all night. The last one goes around midnight. If you missed the last crossing, you don’t have to swim yet, but you can take the ferry to Amsterdam North and from there it,s is a half hour walk to the CP. The best way to get to know Amsterdam is by bicycle. If you don’t have a bike yourself, you can rent one for about €10 a €15 per day. Alternatively, you can also make use of public transport.
TIP: Buy a dayticket for the public transport (€ 7.50 per day or € 22.50 for 4 days)

Noorderlicht
Noorderlicht is a beautiful greenhouse with an amazing view over Amsterdam. I did not yet had a dinner or a lunch here. So if you try it out, please give me your opinion about Noorderlicht.
Pllek
Pllek is very nice place to visit. There are many free or payed performances in the evening. And when the weather is good, you get a real beach experience
IJ-Kantine
The IJ-Kantine is located at the departure point of the Ferry. I find it a very nice restaurant. Beautifully situated on the IJ. I drank some beers here in the evening and that was very enjoying.
Resume
To come to a resume. The CP Amsterdam City Camp is very very basic. €25 per night is at the high end, but this is Amsterdam. When you travelling with young kids, we recommend Camping Gaasperpark or another campsite with some more facilities, especially for the kids.
